Summer of Shafer

We had a really fun summer this year as we were able to have so much more time with Shafer than usual. With Shafer working nights we just assumed it was going to be a hard year with little sleep and little time spent together as a family. We were mistaken! We’ve ended up really liking the night shift. It seems like Shafer is ALWAYS home! Whenever he’s at work I’m asleep. Plus, he works a 2 days on, 2 days off type of shift, so every few days it feels like a weekend. We’ve tried to take advantage of the days he has off and do something fun as a family. Here are a few pictures of some of our adventures this summer!
We took the boys into SLC and let them play in the fountains at the Gateway. They had a good time once they were brave enough to approach them!
Shafer is quite a problem-solver (that's why he makes such a fabulous engineer!) he turned our single stroller into a triple stroller! We also took a walk through Temple Square to look at all the beautiful flowers and grounds! One weekend we decided to drive up the canyon to find someplace fun to walk around. We found a great little place called Silver Lake where they have a boardwalk type trail around the lake.
The boys had a great time walking around and looking at the fish and ducks! It was perfect for strollers too, which is now a must when we go somewhere!

Shafer missed out on the trip to Wheeler Farm earlier this summer so we went as a family a few weeks ago. Again, Shafer's a genius at working things out and he set up the camera without a tripod and got this cute family picture!

It looks like you've had a great summer, and it's great that Shafer has been able to be around more. Yay for hubbies. I can't believe how big Charlie is! I miss Milo's little friends.
