The day we had been waiting for finally arrived, we were on our way to California! I realized after a few hours of driving that we probably should have made our countdown chain for the day we went to Legoland, not the day we started driving! The boys were so excited only to spend hours in a car. Granted, they were thrilled to do all the car ride activities we had planned, but it's not quite the same!
Anytime we made a stop they found something to climb on and run around. Here's a stop in St. George:
When we finally reached Las Vegas for the night the temperatures had risen and the boys shed their shirts to cool down. We drove down the strip to show the boys the lights of Vegas. Unfortunately, as always happens in Vegas, they saw more than we wanted them to. Being in the car you'd think we were safe, but one of those truck billboards for girls drove right up next to us. We kept trying to point out things on the other side of the street while Shafer tried to lose the truck!
It was a busy weekend in Vegas and we were lucky to have my grandparents get us a hotel for the night. With so few options available we were worried we'd be staying in a junky place, but it ended up being a really great place, with a cute pool, and even breakfast in the morning. It was a much needed break for the boys!
Monkey was not happy about the sogginess!
But, he'll pull through with a smile if you take his picture! :)
Here's a picture of the front of the house we rented in Pacific Beach. It was so nice to have an actual house with a kitchen and a separate room for the boys. It was also nice to have a guaranteed parking spot a few blocks from the beach! Plus, it included some beach gear, a BBQ, and even some bikes that the boys took turns taking a ride on with Shafer. It made for a great stay for us!
