Draper Temple

I've wanted to go to the new Draper Temple open house since it started last month. We finally made it over there this week and it was fabulous! We'd debated about whether to bring the boys or to get a babysitter. After hearing about others who brought their kids and the great experiences they had we decided to bring the boys and I'm glad we did!

We got the boys all dressed up, then headed to our assigned parking lot to wait for the bus to take us up to the temple. They show you a movie at the church before you go, but we didn't get to see much of it since the boys were just a bit too wiggly. Then, the boys favorite part of the day, we hopped on a bus and rode up to the temple.

The boys did a great job during the tour of the temple. Our only problem was Cheeks realizing he could make a LOUD noise by scuffing his shoes along the plastic mats they had lining the carpets throughout the temple. So, I took off his shoes and carried them the rest of the way. As soon as Big Boy saw this he wanted his shoes off too, he then proceded to carry one shoe in his hand and one shoe in his mouth. We got some interesting looks from the temple volunteers.

At the end of the tour they take you to a sealing room and have some volunteers share some information about temples and by that point the boys had had enough of being reverent. Cheeks kept walking over and staring at the volunteers as they tried to talk and Big Boy was draping himself all over the altar. Luckily Baby M was being a good boy and didn't cause us one problem! The volunteer who led us into the sealing room happened to be Bruce Lindsay who anchors the channel 5 news, so that was kind of cool! As we walked out of the room with our squirmy boys he said, 'don't worry, the next stop is cookies!'

And, the cookies were a big hit! They had set up the nearby church culteral hall with beautiful decorations, refreshments, and music. The kids were ready for some sugar by that point!

It was such a great experience and the temple is absolutely beautiful!
