With 25 kids between the 6 siblings in Shafer's family we don't often find a chance to get together to hang out without a loud roar of children playing/fighting/crying in the background. Shafer's oldest sister Sadie suggested we plan a 'no kid date night' quarterly so we can catch up and have fun together without the kids destroying the home of whoever is hosting.
So, last weekend we had our first ever no-kid-all-adult-dinner-and-fun-night! My parents were so wonderful to take the boys overnight so we wouldn't have to worry about how late we stayed or having to pay a babysitter.
Sadie and her husband Brent had the night planned just perfect. We were instructed to bring $5 per person for dinner. We split into 3 groups on arrival; appetizers, sides, and dessert. Our wonderful hosts took care of the main course. We then carpooled over to the grocery store and figured out our assignment with our group. I was in the dessert group and Shafer was in the appetizer group. Then we came back to the house and made dinner!
Here are all the couples enjoying the meal; from youngest to oldest we have Cade and Ashley otherwise known as Cash:

After dinner we played a really fun game that had us rolling on the ground laughing. It's that one where you have everyone write down names of famous people on TONS of strips of paper. Then we split up boys against girls and you have to describe the person to your team without saying the name. The best part of the night was watching Leslie try to describe any of them since she knows absolutely no movie stars! She had written down names of people she knows from church like her visiting teachers, or names from the scriptures etc. so anytime one of us pulled one of those out we immediately knew who wrote it. My favorite of the night was Nebakanezer.
After the game those with babysitters left. Shafer and I and a few other couples stayed until 2:30 talking. I was very glad at that point that my boys were safe and sound at Grandpa and Grandma's!

What a great recap and fun to see the pics! You guys seriously stayed until 2:30???? Whoah! Sounds like a whole new party started when we left! Good times!
What a great idea! We will definitely have to try that sometime with my family.
Linds, you're a babe. Also, that game you played (we call it Celebrity...) IS MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME. I'm glad you liked it. :)
