We made Tom the Thankful Turkey for FHE the first Monday in November. We add a new feather each day with something we're thankful for written on it. 
This is what Tom looks like today. By Thanksgiving he'll be full of feathers. 
You could also do this the week of Thanksgiving and have each family member put a feather on every day so his tail would get full faster.
