1st Christmas Party of the Season...With a Twist!

The day after Thanksgiving we had the annual Christmas party for my Mother-in-law's side of the family. Traditionally we meet at Granny's church, eat pizza, have a white elephant gift exchange, then finish off the evening with a game of warball.

Here you can see warball in action with an added obstacle of kids on coaster cars zooming around the floor.
Here's great Granny with her children (including my beautiful Mother-in-law on the left):

And, here's the twist. One of Shafer's cousins got married this summer kind of spur of the moment. Since we weren't able to be there to help celebrate we turned the white elephant game into a shower for the happy couple. They didn't know anything about it, so it was fun to watch their faces as nice gifts were opened instead of the usual goofy white elephant gifts. Shafer's brother, Cade, opened the last gift which included a note with a song he need to sing to the tune of Happy Birthday.
'Happy Wedding to You!
Happy Wedding to You!
Dylan and Mallory got married,
And these gifts are for YOU!!'
At this point some of the older nieces sprayed the couple with silly string as the gifts were shoved in front of them.

One of Shafer's aunts made this gorgeous cake for the couple. The flowers are made of dried pineapple slices, isn't it FABULOUS?!
Of course we had to have the couple cut the cake: It was so fun to have this surprise to look forward to all night. I think the couple was happily surprised and we all had a good time planning and pulling it off! Congrats again to D & M!!!
Now, on to the rest of the season's festivities!!!
